Tasting Notes
The Primitivo grape likes hot vintages and 2015 did not disappoint. The color is a dark red with a rusty hue. Ripe fruit notes like raspberries and boysenberries mix with a touch of soft oak. The flavors are big and rich. A touch of jam and intense fruits follows with a lingering finish.

Vineyard Notes
Primitivo is one of the first reds we pick. It give us an early indicator of what type of harvest it is going to be. These grapes tasted amazing and we are satisfied with the resulting wine. It has the classic jam notes we enjoy.
Winemaking
2015 was a great year for Primitivo. It continues to be one of our most consistently top tier grapes. They look and taste amazing out in the field. We handpicked these grapes on September 8th, 2015. They were then fermented on skins for about two weeks. Then aged in French oak barrels for 22 months. I love the way the Merlot blends with the Primitivo bringing out a rich mouthfeel. A touch of Barbera adds back some brightness to the wine. It is a wine that should drink well young. Age for up to 10 years.
