2020 Albariño

$21.00

Bright tropical notes, Meyer lemon, orange peel, and peach. This wine is bursting with bright aromas. The wine starts off with tangy stone fruit flavors, a mouth-watering flavor with some classic citrus notes lingering on the finish. This is what Coyote Canyon Albarino is all about. Bright fruit and nice acidity. This is a great wine to enjoy with seafood, spicy Asian food, or tapas.

Vineyard Notes

2021 was an interesting growing vintage. Every year has its own unique challenges and 2020 was no different. We started the season nicely. Winter was pretty standard, not overly cold and there was enough precipitation to start the spring with quick growth. Springtime saw lots of early seasonal growth as the heat units started adding up. Early in the season things were tracking ot, similar to 2015. We spent a lot of time working with early canopies to set us up for the summer. As summer started the heat continued to impress but slowly began to mellow out. We were able to wait until September to start picking. Things were going great; we did get hit with some smoke from regional wildfires, but our vineyard thankfully didn’t see any damage. We finished picking late October and by Thanksgiving, everything was pressed off and into barrels, or tanks. The wines from 2020 are going to be epic.

Winemaker’s Notes

Coyote Canyon Vineyard was the first vineyard in Washington State to plant Albarino grapes back in 2006. This exciting Spanish varietal is a rarity in Washington STate but is starting to gain in popularity. Albarino originated in Spain and continues to be a major playing in wines from Space, where they are primarily used in Rias Baixes blends. This has become my favorite white wine to make. It is fun to see how each vintage is a little different from the last. This is a great wine to enjoy with seafood, spicy Asian food, or tapas.
